About Northwest Kids Counseling

Marilyn has been working as a child & adolescent counselor since 2004. Marilyn became a fully licensed mental health counselor in 2011 and began private practice in 2014. In addition to Play & Trauma Therapy training, Marilyn completed coursework to become a ADHD Certified Clinical Service Provider in early 2023. 

Marilyn believes that children will often struggle when difficult life circumstances arise and need help processing their feelings. These problems can cause additional stress on the family and damage relationships. Marilyn works to help the child & family through the difficult time and repair relationships. 

When working with young children Marilyn uses play therapy. Play is a child's natural way to express their feelings. With older children and adults Marilyn's approach to counseling is based on the individual's needs and focuses on helping the client feel comfortable. Marilyn will work with you to create a counseling space that you feel comfortable with & will assist you with working towards your goals. 

Marilyn is passionate about children's mental health care and believes every child should have a voice and be heard. Marilyn loves helping children work through emotional problems and guiding them to develop better coping skills.
